I love camcorders. Dad cams, as some call them. There’s something about the mid-2000’s low quality that creates a feeling of nostalgia in me. Moments I didn’t live but feel like I was there. You can’t recreate it on a modern 4K camera by degrading the quality in post. It looses it’s charm. This old piece of equipment doing its darndest to create the best image it can is endearing. Trying to recreate it is affectatious.
A few weddings ago the bride brought her “dad cam” to the party and her bridesmaids took turns recording. It was the best footage of the day.
